Coral reef is one of those small inns that makes you feel like home from the get go. It has no big fancy signs advertising all its amenities (and it has all you want and more) and no formal settings and rules. Our taxi driver had not even heard of it but it was still easy to find, it is on one of the main roads. The first thing to mention is the cute outdoor kitchen with lots of stuff but everything was so well organized. It was just lovely to cook at night and then sit out with a fresh breeze blowing to eat our food. The inn is also close to the two major supermarkets so getting supplies is very easy. It is an easy ten minute walk to the city center and super safe, not so close to the beaches but thats the same with all hotels in Cozumel. As far as we know, no hotels are allowed to build on the beaches. Cabs are easy finds right outside the inn, which you will need to go to the beach and expect to pay an arm and a leg to get there. The room itself was extremely clean, the bathroom was very nice. There was a personal refrigerator and we are not talking Holiday inn mini fridge, this is something you might buy for your house. The AC worked great, you probably won't even need it if you open the windows.Other amenities - both wireless and wired internet, we used the wireless internet and it was good. There is also a laundry room. You will meet people from all over the world at the inn and that makes for interesting breakfast conversations. The hosts were very helpful and pleasant and live right on the premises. Nothing negative to report for us. There is no prepared breakfast and you have to wash the dishes you use so if thats not something you like, this place is not for you. For others looking for a unique experience in Cozumel, our thumbs are way way up for this beautiful inn. |
