The Coral Reef Inn is fantastic and perfect for the independent traveler. The location is ideal. We have always preferred staying near the downtown area as there are so many fabulous restaurants there! The Coral Reef Inn is an easy walk (or short cab ride) to dinner and just down the street from the grocery stores. It is also a very short walk to the dive boats. Cozumel has always felt safe to us, but for anyone concerned about security the gate to the inn is kept locked and guests are supplied with a key. The rooms are clean and as mentioned in many reviews the showers are fabulous! The bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed the large in-room refrigerator. The rooms otherwise are quite simple. Personal laundry service is offered for a small fee, so don't over pack! What really makes this property nice is the rooftop kitchen and the lounge areas on the second and top floor. There is also a nice wash tank for scuba gear on the top floor. As nice as any facility is, the innkeeper is who really makes the difference. Jerry and Leona are delightful! They are wonderful hosts! We stayed for 9 nights over Christmas and it was hard to go home! Thank you for a fabulous time!
